{"id":10092,"date":"2014-05-22T16:52:47","date_gmt":"2014-05-22T21:52:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.conservators-converse.org\/?p=10092"},"modified":"2014-05-22T16:52:47","modified_gmt":"2014-05-22T21:52:47","slug":"textile-conservator-position-at-the-israel-museum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/resources.culturalheritage.org\/conservators-converse\/2014\/05\/22\/textile-conservator-position-at-the-israel-museum\/","title":{"rendered":"Textile Conservator Position at the Israel Museum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Israel Museum Conservation Department is looking for a trained textile conservator, for a full-time position.<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.conservators-converse.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Israel-Museum-textile.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-10093\" src=\"http:\/\/www.conservators-converse.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Israel-Museum-textile-300x179.jpg\" alt=\"Israel Museum textile\" width=\"300\" height=\"179\" \/><\/a>Responsibilities include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Treatment of a wide variety of textile artifacts from all departments of the museum, with an emphasis on ethnography and Judaica collections;<\/li>\n<li>Management and organization of laboratory work;<\/li>\n<li>Cooperative work with other conservation departments, within the museum and elsewhere.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Proven experience in a recognized textile conservation laboratory of at least 6 years;<\/li>\n<li>Expertise in treatment and identification of structure &amp; techniques of production of textiles (from ancient to contemporary);<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of cleaning, repair, and reinforcement techniques for treatment of a wide variety of materials (carpets, religious objects, clothing, objects of daily use, decorative objects, etc.);<\/li>\n<li>Experience with dyeing of fabrics and fibers;<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of preventive conservation techniques;<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of and experience with display, storage, and transportation solutions;<\/li>\n<li>Experience with digital documentation, including photography;<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of, and adherence to, international ethical standards;<\/li>\n<li>Good command of Hebrew and English.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preference will be given to graduates of recognized textile conservation programs.
