{"id":11306,"date":"2014-08-04T12:03:23","date_gmt":"2014-08-04T17:03:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.conservators-converse.org\/?p=11306"},"modified":"2014-08-04T12:03:23","modified_gmt":"2014-08-04T17:03:23","slug":"jaic-editor-in-chief-position-announcement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/resources.culturalheritage.org\/conservators-converse\/2014\/08\/04\/jaic-editor-in-chief-position-announcement\/","title":{"rendered":"JAIC Editor-in-Chief Position Announcement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.conservation-us.org\/publications-resources\/periodicals\/jaic\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-11307 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.conservators-converse.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/JAIC-2013-14-300x267.jpg\" alt=\"JAIC covers\" width=\"300\" height=\"267\" \/><\/a>The American Institute for Conservation of Historic &amp; Artistic Works (AIC)\u00a0is seeking an Editor-in-Chief for the <em>Journal of the American Institute\u00a0for Conservation<\/em> (JAIC).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The position of Editor-in-Chief (EIC) of the <em>Journal of the American\u00a0Institute for Conservation<\/em> (JAIC) primarily involves reviewing new\u00a0submissions to the Journal, assigning each submission to an appropriate\u00a0Lead Editor and Associate Editor (AE) in conjunction with the Senior\u00a0Editor, and making final decisions based on Associate Editor and reviewer\u00a0comments. Both EIC and the Senior Editor review final proofs. The EIC also\u00a0requests proposals for special issue topics, writes a bimonthly column for <em>AIC News<\/em>\u00a0in coordination with AIC&#8217;s Communications Director, and selects\u00a0new AEs as needed. The EIC also makes final decisions about book reviews,\u00a0the order of articles, and cover images for each issue. The EIC works with\u00a0the AIC Communications Director, who serves an administrative role with\u00a0JAIC.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">JAIC publishes four issues annually, with an average of 50 submissions per\u00a0year. Submissions are made via Editorial Manager and the EIC will be\u00a0expected to use that program; training and assistance will be provided.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The Editor-in-Chief serves as an independent contractor to the AIC and is\u00a0given an annual stipend of $8,000. Reimbursable expenses include travel,\u00a0hotel, and per diem to the November IAG meeting in Washington, DC, and\u00a0travel and one hotel night only to the AIC Annual Meeting. The expectation\u00a0is that the EIC will attend both of these meetings as the JAIC\u00a0representative.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The Editor-in-Chief reports to the AIC Executive Director and works in\u00a0cooperation with the AIC Communications Director and the Board Director of\u00a0Communications.
