The Association is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to protecting\u00a0Islamic manuscript collections and supporting those who work with them. It was formed in\u00a0response to the urgent need to address the poor preservation and inaccessibility of many Islamic\u00a0manuscript collections around the world.<br \/>\nThe Association is currently seeking an office administrator. The position is full-time and is based\u00a0at the Association\u2019s office in Cambridge, UK. The contract is a one-year fixed term contract.<br \/>\nEmployment in Cambridge will be through the Foundation\u2019s representative company, Tradigital,\u00a0which is based in Cairo, Egypt. The salary will be \u00a321,000-\u00a325,000 gross per annum, and all UK\u00a0statutory benefits and entitlements apply. The employee will receive 30 days\u2019 paid holiday in\u00a0addition to all UK bank holidays.<br \/>\nThe successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day running of the Association, including the\u00a0organisation of conferences, board meetings, and short courses; the management of the\u00a0Association\u2019s membership records; and the coordination of the Association\u2019s grant scheme. He or\u00a0she will be able to work well as part of a small team and also under his or her own direction when\u00a0necessary. Excellent interpersonal skills and an enthusiasm for the Association\u2019s aims are essential.<br \/>\nOccasional travel to locations within the UK and abroad may be required as part of the role. The\u00a0administrator will report to the executive director.<br \/>\n<strong>Main duties of the job<\/strong><br \/>\nAssist with the following in cooperation with the executive director and other Association staff:<br \/>\n\u2022 Day-to-day administration of the Association.<br \/>\n\u2022 Maintenance of up-to-date membership records.<br \/>\n\u2022 Organisation of events including conferences, board meetings, and short courses.<br \/>\n\u2022 Create English content for the Association\u2019s website in cooperation with the executive director.<br \/>\n\u2022 Coordination of the Association\u2019s annual grant scheme.<br \/>\n\u2022 Coordination of the Association\u2019s volunteer programme.<br \/>\n\u2022 Organisation and stocktaking of office equipment, supplies, and books.<br \/>\n\u2022 Maintenance of the office\u2019s physical premises, including utilities, insurance, fire and intruder<br \/>\nalarms, and cleaning.<br \/>\n\u2022 Supporting other Foundation projects, if needed.<br \/>\nEssential skills, experience, and qualifications<br \/>\n\u2022 Bachelor&#8217;s degree.<br \/>\n\u2022 Excellent spoken and written English.<br \/>\n\u2022 Excellent interpersonal skills and phone manner.<br \/>\n\u2022 Proven experience in events coordination and administration.<br \/>\n\u2022 Excellent computer literacy: professional-level competency with word processors, spreadsheets,<br \/>\ndatabases, email clients, and web-based social media.<br \/>\n\u2022 Capable of handling multiple demanding priorities in a busy \u00a0environment.<br \/>\n\u2022 Willing to travel internationally.<br \/>\n<strong>Desirable skills, experience, and qualifications:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Proficiency in minute taking and touch typing.<br \/>\n\u2022 First aid qualification.<br \/>\n\u2022 Knowledge of a discipline relating to the care and management of manuscript collections (e.g.<br \/>\ncataloguing, conservation, or digitisation), Middle Eastern and Islamic studies, and\/or codicology.<br \/>\n\u2022 Knowledge of foreign languages, especially Arabic, Persian, and Turkish.<br \/>\nTo apply please send a cover letter, CV, and the contact information for two references to the\u00a0address below.
