The Society of American Archivists Spotlight\u00a0Award Subcommittee invites nominations for the 2015\u00a0Spotlight Award.<\/strong>
\nThis award “recognizes the contributions of individuals who work for the good of the archives profession and of archival collections, and whose work would not typically receive public recognition.”\u00a0 Nominees do not have to be members of SAA.\u00a0 Please share this message as you think appropriate.\u00a0 I hope you will consider recognizing a colleague (or yourself!) in this way.\u00a0 Additional information about the criteria and process is found below.
\nPurpose and Criteria for Selection:<\/strong>
\nEstablished in 2005, the Spotlight Award recognizes the contributions of individuals who work for the good of the archives profession and of archival collections, and whose work would not typically receive public recognition. The nominee(s) should have achieved distinction in one or more of the following ways:
\n*\u00a0\u00a0 Participating in special projects.
\n*\u00a0\u00a0 Exhibiting tireless committee or advocacy work.
\n*\u00a0\u00a0 Responding effectively to an unforeseen or pressing need or emergency.
\n*\u00a0\u00a0 Contributing innovative or creative ideas to the profession.
\n*\u00a0\u00a0 Performing extraordinary volunteerism.
\n*\u00a0\u00a0 Quietly but effectively promoting the profession.
\nEligibility:<\/strong>\u00a0 Awarded to an individual archivist or a group of up to five archivists who have collaborated on a project. Preference is given to archivists working in smaller repositories, especially those without institutional support for professional activities.
\nNomination Requirements:<\/strong>\u00a0 A completed nomination form, downloadable at\u00a0http:\/\/www2.archivists.org\/sites\/all\/files\/Spotlight-Award-Form.rtf<\/a>.
\nSponsor and Funding:<\/strong>\u00a0 The Society of American Archivists Foundation.
\nPrize:<\/strong>\u00a0 A certificate and complimentary registration (for up to five individuals) to the SAA Annual Meeting occurring in the year in which the award is presented.
\nSubmission Deadline and Nomination Form:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Deadline: February 28, 2015.<\/strong>\u00a0 Please complete the nomination form (http:\/\/www2.archivists.org\/sites\/all\/files\/ Spotlight\u00a0-Award-Form.rtf<\/a>) and email it along with any applicable supporting documentation to\u00a0awards@archivists.org<\/a>\u00a0with the subject line \u201cSpotlight Award.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Attachments should not exceed 5MB.
