{"id":12031,"date":"2015-03-26T15:43:44","date_gmt":"2015-03-26T20:43:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.conservators-converse.org\/?p=12031"},"modified":"2015-03-26T15:43:44","modified_gmt":"2015-03-26T20:43:44","slug":"job-posting-outdoor-sculpture-conservation-pre-program-internship-denver-art-museum-denver-co","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/resources.culturalheritage.org\/conservators-converse\/2015\/03\/26\/job-posting-outdoor-sculpture-conservation-pre-program-internship-denver-art-museum-denver-co\/","title":{"rendered":"Job Posting: Outdoor Sculpture Conservation Pre-Program Internship &#8211; Denver Art Museum (Denver, CO)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Denver Art Museum Pre-program Internship in Outdoor Sculpture Conservation<\/h3>\n<p>The Denver Art Museum is offering two paid pre-program internships in the conservation of outdoor sculpture for the summer of 2015.\u00a0 The internships will be 3 days per week, 7 hours per day, for 5 weeks, starting in mid- to late June.\u00a0 Under the supervision of the conservator of modern and contemporary art, interns will learn and practice basic skills for the conservation of outdoor sculpture, including washing and waxing of bronzes and maintenance of painted surfaces, as well as written and photographic documentation techniques.<br \/>\nQualifications for the internship include:<br \/>\n\u2022An interest in art conservation as a career.<br \/>\n\u2022Successful completion of some academic requirements for entry into a conservation graduate program.\u00a0 Coursework may include but is not limited to chemistry, physics, studio art, and art history classes.<br \/>\n\u2022Ability to handle collection objects with care.<br \/>\n\u2022Ability to exercise critical thinking.<br \/>\n\u2022Willingness to take direction and execute accordingly.<br \/>\n\u2022Proven attendance and follow through of prior job responsibilities.<br \/>\n\u2022Prior experience handling artworks is a plus but not required.<br \/>\nWork will involve some moderate to heavy lifting and use of surfactants, solvents, paint, and wax.\u00a0 Work will take place outdoors; conditions may be hot and dry.\u00a0 Interns are expected to follow established safety practices per lifts, ladders, and use of half-face respirators.\u00a0 Fit testing and training for respirator use will be provided.
