{"id":14194,"date":"2016-04-29T08:58:36","date_gmt":"2016-04-29T13:58:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.conservators-converse.org\/?p=14194"},"modified":"2016-04-29T08:58:36","modified_gmt":"2016-04-29T13:58:36","slug":"job-posting-technical-manager-art-services-nynj-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/resources.culturalheritage.org\/conservators-converse\/2016\/04\/29\/job-posting-technical-manager-art-services-nynj-area\/","title":{"rendered":"Job Posting: Technical Manager &#8211; Art Services (NY\/NJ Area)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Job Title:<\/strong>\u00a0Technical Manager &#8211; Art Services, USA<br \/>\n<strong>Reporting:\u00a0<\/strong>Local Business Developer<br \/>\n<strong>Primary Responsibilities\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintain and develop the technical excellence of the services (condition reporting and technical examination on artworks)<\/li>\n<li>Overall responsibility to ensure that the inspection activities are carried out in accordance with Technical procedures and internal protocols<\/li>\n<li>Deliver on-site technical examination report on artworks<br \/>\nTrain and audit inspectors performing condition reports<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Specific Responsibilities\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Establish pragmatic and efficient analytical plans to meet clients\u2019 expectations<\/li>\n<li>Schedule and conduct autonomously analyses by techniques such as photography in visible and UV light, stereomicroscopy, X-ray radiography, infrared reflectography, X-ray microfluorescence, and others as appropriate (Raman, FTIR, SEM, GCMS, radiocarbon dating) in collaboration with external partners to investigate works of art<\/li>\n<li>Perform sampling and micro-sampling on artworks<\/li>\n<li>Draft technical examination reports<\/li>\n<li>Train inspectors performing condition reports on acquisition procedure, scope, conservation and security issues according to technical procedures and internal protocols.<\/li>\n<li>Audit inspection activities according to technical procedures and internal protocols<\/li>\n<li>Advise Local Business Developer on art-related technical issues<\/li>\n<li>Quality check of condition reports performed by inspectors<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the maintenance of the laboratory and equipment<\/li>\n<li>In charge of the safety and radioprotection regulations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>SGS required training:\u00a0<\/strong>Code of integrity<br \/>\n<strong>Education<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>M. A. Degree \u2013 Art Conservation Science. A PhD or equivalent a plus or similar (e.g. Paintings conservator with complementary scientific education\/experience), preferably with a specialization in examination of paintings and modern\/contemporary materials<\/li>\n<li>Fluent English.
