Specializes in the care, cleaning and\u00a0conservation of glass objects and sculptures, with a focus on modern\u00a0and contemporary collections. Other primary duties include\u00a0examination and conditioning of objects for acquisition and loan\u00a0approval.<br \/>\nResponsibilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assists the Chief Conservator and Associate Conservator in all\u00a0aspects of the care of glass and glass-related objects in the\u00a0collection and on loan<\/li>\n<li>Examines Museum objects requested for loan to other<br \/>\ninstitutions, writes condition reports and recommends the\u00a0appropriate response<\/li>\n<li>Serves as a courier for Museum objects going on loan to other\u00a0institutions domestically and internationally<\/li>\n<li>With the Chief and Associate Conservators, ensures that the\u00a0handling and storage of conservation materials and the use of\u00a0equipment in the conservation laboratory are in compliance with\u00a0relevant federal and state regulations<\/li>\n<li>Maintains currency on the latest developments in the field of\u00a0glass conservation and restoration, with special focus on Modern\u00a0and Contemporary objects and sculptures<\/li>\n<li>Documents treatments and updates conservation and condition\u00a0records in the Museum&#8217;s database<\/li>\n<li>Assists in representing the conservation department on the\u00a0Museum&#8217;s social media sites and contributes to conservation\u00a0information on the CMoG website<\/li>\n<li>Assists with the supervision and guidance of interns in the\u00a0Conservation Department<\/li>\n<li>Observes and follows all safety regulations of The Corning\u00a0Museum of Glass<\/li>\n<li>Is familiar with and observes the requirements of all Museum\u00a0standards and the Code of Ethics and Statement of Practice of\u00a0the American Institute for Conservation<\/li>\n<li>Represents The Corning Museum of Glass at domestic and\u00a0international conferences and professional meetings through\u00a0active participation and engagement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Qualifications<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Master&#8217;s degree in Art History or a similar field, with a<br \/>\ngraduate diploma in conservation<\/li>\n<li>Minimum two years&#8217; experience as an object conservator, or\u00a0equivalent training and experience<\/li>\n<li>Experience handling contemporary glass desired<\/li>\n<li>Ability to complete high quality treatments in a timely manner<\/li>\n<li>Excellent organizational skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently and as a member of a team<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal skills<\/li>\n<li>Excellent research and writing skill.
