\nThe Courtauld Gallery is one of the world’s finest small museums\u00a0with outstanding collections and an acclaimed programme of temporary\u00a0exhibitions.\u00a0 Set in historic Somerset House in central London, the\u00a0Gallery is an integral part of The Courtauld Institute of Art, an\u00a0international centre for the teaching and study of the history of\u00a0art and conservation.
\nThe Courtauld Gallery is seeking to recruit an Assistant Conservator\u00a0of Works on Paper.\u00a0 The role will focus on the assessment,\u00a0treatment, documentation and re-mounting of drawings from the\u00a0permanent collection, working closely with the Conservator of Works\u00a0on Paper.\u00a0 You will support the various activities associated with\u00a0the Gallery’s exhibition programme including the preparation of\u00a0works on paper for display or loan.\u00a0 In addition there will be\u00a0opportunities to support the conservation team with the preventative\u00a0care of the collections including environmental monitoring and IPM.
\nThe successful candidate should have a recognised qualification in\u00a0paper conservation or equivalent and demonstrable practical skills\u00a0in conservation of works on paper and mount cutting.\u00a0 This busy\u00a0studio requires a well organised approach to all aspects of the\u00a0work.\u00a0 Some experience in working with museum or gallery collections\u00a0would be desirable and familiarity with collection database systems\u00a0would be an advantage.
