EST ON THE CLOSING DATE<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>RESPONSES TO QUALIFYING QUESTIONS MUST BE VERIFIABLE ON THE EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION IS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT WITH THIS POSITION AND SELECTED APPLICANT WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:<\/strong><br \/>\nAssists the Historic Conservator with conserving marine and terrestrial archaeological objects.<br \/>\nProcesses and documents archaeological objects.<br \/>\nAssists the Historic Conservator with facility and equipment maintenance. This duty includes procuring supplies, arranging for equipment inspections, and ensuring the laboratory workspace remains clean and neat.<br \/>\nAssists the Collections Manager and Historic Conservator with public outreach programs, including laboratory tours and other speaking engagements.<br \/>\nAssists the Historic Conservator with maintaining a safe lab environment, including safety inspections.<br \/>\nAssists the Historic Conservator with instructing and training conservation interns and volunteers.<br \/>\nPerforms other related duties as requested.<br \/>\n<strong>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:<\/strong><br \/>\nMasters degree with focus in conservation or a Bachelors degree and two years experience working in a conservation laboratory.<br \/>\nMinimum of one year experience in an archaeological or museum conservation laboratory.<br \/>\n<strong>REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:<\/strong><br \/>\nKnowledge of basic archaeological conservation knowledge including marine and terrestrial objects, documentation, photography, and artifact database management.<br \/>\nKnowledge of basic cleaning and treatments.<br \/>\nKnowledge of chemical laboratory safety procedures.<br \/>\nAbility to use Microsoft Office Programs.<br \/>\nAbility to lift at least 50 pounds.<br \/>\nAbility to work in an environment of inconsistent temperature and humidity, occasionally outdoors.<br \/>\n<strong>PREFERRED (NOT REQUIRED) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:<\/strong><br \/>\nExperience cleaning and treating artifacts from marine and terrestrial sites.<br \/>\nExperience with treatment of metal artifacts including concreted objects and electrolytic reduction.<br \/>\nExperience treating organic artifacts.<br \/>\nExperience\u00a0with sealants and coatings.<br \/>\nKnowledge and understanding or maritime archaeological material culture.<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>**IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please attach copies of any documents that are needed to meet the minimum qualifications for this position to this People First requisition.
