According to an article in the September 22, 2016 issue of The New York Times (\u201cTechnology Unlocks Secrets of a Biblical Scroll\u201d, by Nicholas Wade), using x-ray based micro-computed tomography and a visualization technique called \u201cvirtual unwrapping\u201d, the text of a carbonized parchment scroll found at Ein-Gedi (on the shore of the Dead Sea) about 50 years ago has been retrieved without unrolling the scroll.
