If you are\u00a0considering an internship in Los Angeles, Miami, NYC, San Francisco,\u00a0Washington, D.C., or abroad, please reference these helpful city guides.**<\/p>\n<p>This position assists\u00a0the Campus &amp; Public Art Collections and Conservation Manager (located within the Registrar\u2019s office at the Smart Museum) in documenting, researching,\u00a0and caring for objects within the Campus &amp; Public Art Collection and loans to the University.<\/p>\n<p>Duties:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist with performing and documenting conservation and maintenance treatments on works of art.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with integrated\u00a0pest management.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with condition\u00a0reporting of objects.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with researching\u00a0materials.<\/li>\n<li>Other duties as necessary<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Qualifications:\u00a0Applicant must be a University of Chicago undergraduate student. This position requires considerable technical hand skills, a\u00a0familiarity with or interest in materials science, and the ability to work\u00a0outdoors and indoors with chemicals. Applicant must be highly sensitive to the necessity\u00a0of confidentiality and accurate record keeping and be familiar with database\u00a0management, networking and image processing. S\/he must be extremely\u00a0detail-oriented, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, possess\u00a0the ability to see projects through to completion, and be able to work well\u00a0both with others and independently.<\/p>\n<p>An interest in\u00a0art, art history, or art conservation\u2014along with office or museum experience\u2014is\u00a0preferred, in addition to a familiarity with the University of Chicago campus.\u00a0Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is essential; ability to go between\u00a0PCs and Macs appreciated; familiarity with Adobe Photoshop CC and Bridge,<br \/>\nscanning software, and an interest in museum database systems (The Museum\u00a0System) is desirable.<\/p>\n<p>Physical demands include considerable documentation and handling of art objects, including careful\u00a0handling, lifting, and photographing.\u00a0Some office work, including typing, data entry, and phoning.
