Two internships in archaeological conservation are available at the\u00a0Institute for Aegean Prehistory Study Center for East Crete (INSTAP\u00a0SCEC) during the summer of 2018. These internships are available for 6-8\u00a0weeks between May 1st and July 30th.<\/p>\n
The INSTAP SCEC conservation lab is responsible for material excavated by several American and Greek teams, including those working at Mochlos,\u00a0Azorias, Petras and Gournia. Most of the work this summer will focus on\u00a0the treatment of archaeological ceramics. Interns participate fully in\u00a0the work of the lab, which includes lifting fragile artifacts on site,\u00a0examining and treating priority finds, discussions with material\u00a0specialists and the full reconstruction of selected artifacts for the\u00a0new Agios Nikolaos Museum. The lively INSTAP Study Center offers interns\u00a0the chance to meet students and experts in a variety of fields from many\u00a0different universities. It also hosts a summer lecture series, has an\u00a0excellent library and is a good base for exploring the archaeology of Crete.<\/p>\n
Applicants must be recent graduates of, or currently enrolled in, a conservation degree program.<\/p>\n
They should also be able to communicate, and carry out conservation documentation, in English.<\/p>\n
