The position involves the teaching and supervision of\u00a0graduate students in theoretical and laboratory courses covering the history,\u00a0technology, and conservation of artifacts and artworks from historic, archaeological and\u00a0ethnographic contexts. Applicants must have in-depth knowledge and expertise\u00a0covering a wide range of organic and inorganic materials including ceramics, glass,\u00a0metals, stone, bone, ivory, textiles and wood.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent degree completed at the start date of the\u00a0appointment. The main criteria for selection are academic and teaching excellence. The\u00a0successful candidate will provide evidence of high quality scholarly output that\u00a0demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer assessed publications\u00a0and the securing of external research funding, as well as strong potential for\u00a0outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and\u00a0an ongoing commitment to academic and pedagogical excellence in support of the\u00a0department\u2019s programs. Candidates must provide evidence of an ability to work\u00a0collaboratively in an interdisciplinary and student-centered environment. The department\u00a0is committed to strengthening further the collaboration between its Art History and Art\u00a0Conservation programs in teaching and in research, for example, through the joint PhD\u00a0steam that was recently introduced and through Queen\u2019s University\u2019s Mobile Laboratory\u00a0for Technical Art History. The successful candidate will be required to make substantive\u00a0contributions through service to the department, the Faculty, the University, and\/or the\u00a0broader community. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.\u00a0 This position is subject to final budgetary approval by the University. Also, pending\u00a0approval, we hope to follow this appointment with an advertisement for a proposed tenure-track position to start 1 July 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The University invites applications from all qualified individuals.
