{"id":18615,"date":"2018-05-08T14:34:52","date_gmt":"2018-05-08T19:34:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.conservators-converse.org\/?p=18615"},"modified":"2018-05-08T14:34:52","modified_gmt":"2018-05-08T19:34:52","slug":"equity-and-inclusion-working-group-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/resources.culturalheritage.org\/conservators-converse\/2018\/05\/08\/equity-and-inclusion-working-group-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Equity and Inclusion Working Group Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear AIC Member,<\/p>\n<p>It is a privilege to release and put into action the report of the Equity and Inclusion Working Group (EIWG),\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.conservation-us.org\/docs\/default-source\/reports\/equity-and-inclusion-working-group-final-report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><strong>Recommendations for Advancing Equity and Inclusion in the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works<\/strong><\/em><\/a>.\u00a0The EIWG was established in December 2016 for a term of one year and was charged with drafting a\u00a0<em>Statement on Equity and Inclusion<\/em>, which was incorporated into our\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.conservation-us.org\/docs\/default-source\/governance\/core-values.pdf?sfvrsn=6\">Core Values<\/a>\u00a0in April 2017.\u00a0The Group was also tasked with writing a report that summarized similar efforts in allied professions and proposing avenues in furtherance of equity and inclusion in AIC Strategic Planning, and, lastly, recommending strategies and programs to help the AIC improve equity and inclusion within the organization.<\/p>\n<p>The final report frames the EIWG\u2019s recommendations according to four targets:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Develop Internal Engagement and Education Processes or Resources<\/em>;<\/li>\n<li><em>Increase Advocacy &amp; Partnerships with Allied &amp; International Professionals<\/em>;<\/li>\n<li><em>Enhance Recruitment, Growth, and Retention Practices;<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Ensure Sustainability of Efforts<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The EIWG has fulfilled its charge with distinction and the Board is grateful to its members:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jennifer Hain Teper, Chair<\/li>\n<li>Heather Galloway, ETC Liaison<\/li>\n<li>Kimi Taira, ECPN Liaison<\/li>\n<li>Anisha Gupta<\/li>\n<li>Beatriz Haspo<\/li>\n<li>Thomas McClintock<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Clearly the time has come for the AIC to commit to these efforts in a systematic and pro-active manner if meaningful progress is to be achieved.\u00a0 Accordingly, members are encouraged to read and reflect upon\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.conservation-us.org\/docs\/default-source\/reports\/equity-and-inclusion-working-group-final-report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><strong>Recommendations for Advancing Equity and Inclusion in the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works<\/strong><\/em><\/a>.
