{"id":2931,"date":"2012-05-04T19:42:20","date_gmt":"2012-05-05T00:42:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.conservators-converse.org\/?p=2931"},"modified":"2012-05-04T19:42:20","modified_gmt":"2012-05-05T00:42:20","slug":"2012-rome-prize-winners-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/resources.culturalheritage.org\/conservators-converse\/2012\/05\/04\/2012-rome-prize-winners-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"2012 Rome Prize Winners Announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, the American Academy in Rome announced the winners of the 116<sup>th<\/sup> annual <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aarome.org\/apply\/rome-prize\/procedure-requirements\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rome Prize Competition<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Among the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aarome.org\/sites\/default\/files\/RomePrize%20Winners2012-2013FINAL.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">30 recipients<\/a>\u00a0were Elizabeth Schulte, Owner\/Chief Conservator of Elizabeth Kaiser Schulte Conservation of Art and Historic Artifacts on Paper in Atlanta, Georgia, and Randall Mason, Associate Professor and Chair of the University of Pennsylvania Graduate Program in Historic Preservation.<\/p>\n<p>The Rome Prize is a national competition that awards grants each year to thirty individuals who represent the highest standard of excellence in the arts and humanities. The grants allow recipients to spend six-months to two years in Rome to pursue a specific project. Awards are made in the following disciplines: Architecture, Design, Historic Preservation and Conservation, Landscape Architecture, Literature, Musical Composition, Visual Arts, Ancient Studies, Medieval Studies, Renaissance and Early Modern Studies, Modern Italian Studies.<\/p>\n<p>Schulte and Mason were the two winners in the \u201cHistoric Preservation and Conservation\u201d category.
