{"id":4354,"date":"2011-09-03T23:41:00","date_gmt":"2011-09-04T04:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.conservators-converse.org\/2011\/09\/emerging-conservators-and-outreach\/"},"modified":"2011-09-03T23:41:00","modified_gmt":"2011-09-04T04:41:00","slug":"emerging-conservators-and-outreach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/resources.culturalheritage.org\/conservators-converse\/2011\/09\/03\/emerging-conservators-and-outreach\/","title":{"rendered":"Emerging Conservators and Outreach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The ECPN is collecting case studies about conservation outreach and we hope those emerging conservators who read this blog would contribute their stories or case studies. <\/p>\n<p>Please include information in the comments section of this post, case studies could include: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Public conservation treatments<\/li>\n<li>Speaking about conservation to collectors, museum visitors, students, etc. <\/li>\n<li>Involving the community in a conservation project<\/li>\n<li>Using social media to reach out about conservation including blogging, facebook, twitter, flickr, and how these sites are helpful to stay connected to conservators and non-conservators alike<\/li>\n<li>Advocating for conservation by contacting Congressional representatives<\/li>\n<li>Reaching out to related museum or arts associations to build networking groups and connect with professionals in related fields<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The topics could also include basic &#8216;How to&#8217; information like: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How to write a blog post<\/li>\n<li>How to run a Facebook group as an admin<\/li>\n<li>How to write a press release for a conservation project<\/li>\n<li>How to organize a happy hour (Northern Californian Conservators &#8211; I am looking at you)<\/li>\n<li>How to explain conservation to a four-year-old, a teenager, a professional in a similar field, a museum visitor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I am looking forward to hearing more of your thoughts and stories\/case studies about conservation outreach! <\/p>\n<p>~Rose Cull <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The ECPN is collecting case studies about conservation outreach and we hope those emerging conservators who read this blog would contribute their stories or case studies.
