The artwork is an ethereal open-weave shirt made of fine silk thread with thousands of metal needles sewn into it. Given the delicate nature of the piece, work was conducted to better understand its materials and develop a plan for its care. At the heart of these investigations was the fact that the silk thread is coated with the acrylic emulsion RhoplexTM AC-2235M by the artist\u2019s studio. Primary concerns included the potentially tacky nature of the resin, how to safely remove particulate debris, and how to adequately protect the artwork while honoring the artist\u2019s aesthetic requirements. Mockups that mimicked the materials in the artwork were created, exposed to different environmental conditions, and observed under the microscope. A plan for regular monitoring and imaging of the artwork in the gallery was implemented. The results emphasized that a clean, climate-controlled environment is one key to the longterm preservation of the artwork. La investigaci\u00f3n se centr\u00f3 en el hecho de que los hilos de seda fueron originalmente recubiertos por el estudio del artista con una emulsi\u00f3n acr\u00edlica RhoplexTM AC-2235M. Los resultados pusieron en relieve que un entorno limpio y con una climatizaci\u00f3n controlada son la clave para una conservaci\u00f3n a largo plazo.
