A recent marble cleaning project required a portable unit that could be transported in\u00a0checked luggage.\u00a0The\u00a0Karcher SC3\u00a0Easyfix\u00a0portable home steam cleaner\u00a0waslightweight,\u00a0reliable\u00a0and robust enough to do the job.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. The author discusses his use of mylar masks to clean lacunae in marble surfaces without abrasion to adjacent surfaces. He also uses a small, powerful flashlight coupled to a clamp-on flexible arm, to&nbsp;produce a&nbsp;raking light for fill leveling.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3.\u00a0Projecting wire or dowel elements found in sculpture and other treatments\u00a0are often hard to see end-on,\u00a0are\u00a0sharp\u00a0and a threat to eye safety.\u00a0Flagging and cushioning\u00a0with colored tape and foam can increase visibility and provide cushioning from accidental contact.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/resources.culturalheritage.org\/osg-postprints\/objects-specialty-group\/2026-volume-thirty-three\/\">2026 | Montreal | Volume 33<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tony Sigel AbstractThree topics are discussed. 1.
