Undoing an epoxy join with pineapple juice

Alexis North

Abstract

This was based on a suggestion from Lynn Grant – I once used fresh pineapple juice to take down an epoxy join on an obsidian blade. The join was stepped and the epoxy yellowed, and every other method I tried would not take the join apart. The enzymes in the juice can break down proteins, and seemed to also be effective in breaking down the epoxy join.
